Blackmores wanted to assist customers in achieving their movement goals, whilst considering the unique motivations individuals have for exercise. They needed a solution that would engage a diverse audience while staying true to the Blackmores brand. The challenge was to create an appealing and engaging quiz that would allow Blackmores to customise the content in their digital wellness hub.
To ensure the quiz accurately uncovers users' personalities and habits, the Geronimo team collaborated with a behavioral psychologist. This partnership allowed for the creation of scientifically validated questions that provide relevant insights. Working closely with the psychologist, the team also developed accompanying abstract visuals that enhance the overall experience and foster a deeper connection with the content.
We tried out various visual concepts with the goal of making them relate to the question while still being abstract enough to fit in with the broader theme of the quiz.
The questions were answered on a scale of 1 to 7. To make it easy for users to select their answer, we used a slider. This allowed us to get creative with our use of illustrations and animation. Each side of the slider had a different look, and all points in the middle of the scale had a subtly unique visual, colour change, or animation.
After all questions and visuals were approved by the client, it was time to animate them.
I used After Effects to animate all of the illustrations. Each illustration was animated and exported separately using Lottie, allowing us to layer the animations and create a fully immersive experience.
When exporting with Lottie, keyframes for each point in the answer scale needed to be provided to the development team. This enabled them to control the animation based on the user's answers or where they had moved the slider.
